What is DROEWORS?

Droewors is whole muscle beef, coarsely ground and infused with natural aromtaic spices, vinegar and incased in a natural sheep intestine. Dried to perfection.

Flavour profile.

Droëwors (a traditional South African dried sausage) tastes like a rich, savoury blend of coriander-spiced beef and tender, buttery fat. Unlike smoked jerky, it is air-dried, resulting in a firm outer snap that yields to a tender, deeply flavourful center 

Where do we source our beef?

Ireland, EU, Japan.

Biltong vs jerky?

Simply put, biltong is cured and air dried while jerky is cooked at high heat. The result of biltong is tender, soft and rich in nutients and flavour.

How do I store biltong?

Environmental Conditions
Store products in a cool, dry environment, shielded from direct sunlight exposure. A pantry or cupboard typically provides suitable conditions. Consider than in winter your house is warmer and this can negatively impact the environment for keeping your biltong fresh.

 

Short-Term Storage
For consumption within 3-5 days, ambient storage as described above is sufficient. However, in humid climates, refrigeration is advisable even for short-term storage.

 

Long-Term Preservation
Refrigeration: Recommended for extended shelf life beyond 5 days.
Freezing: For long-term storage, freezing is an effective option. When ready to use, thaw the product in a refrigerator to maintain optimal texture and quality.

ZERO ADDED SUGAR

Most commercially available meat snacks and jerky conatin sugar. Runder biltong contains no added sugar. Our flavour comes from traditional spices, vinegar, and a slow drying process that develops flavoour naturally.

MINIMAL PROCESSING

We don't extrude, form, or use binding agents. Runder is made from whole muscle beef, cured and air dried. The process has barely changed in 400 years — because it doesn't need to.

EXCEPTIONAL TASTE

Biltong is never cooked. It retains moisture, flavour and nutrition during the drying process. It takes biltong between 5-7 days to be ready to eat and enjoy. Not a fast process but it's absolutley worth the extra effort.
